Software Engineer 2
At our team in Tokyo we build the best input tools that are efficient and expressive to enable our customers to create more. We build East Asian input method editors (IME) for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Indic languages including Hindi, for all Windows devices. We are in charge of the touch keyboard experience for all languages and Windows devices. We help our customers input in an efficient and expressive way with our user experiences, including emoji panel, rich content suggestions, and voice input. We are a critical part of designing and building new Windows devices that Microsoft plans to release in the future with our multi-modal input experiences.
We’re looking for a strong, experienced software engineer who is passionate about building next generation text input experiences and is capable of leading the team that focuses on but not limited to Text Input features targeting the wide breadth of spoken languages beyond English/Latin originated languages.
Working together with PM/DAS disciplines, you will be leading the effort to design and build text input experience that's highly competitive, with improved throughput and functions to assist customers to be more efficient and expressive. You'll be in charge of designing the architecture that scales to numerous applications with seamlessly integrated experience and high quality. Holding the high bar for quality of customer experience is your no. 1 job. You'll be owning an end to end scope for designing and building a critical component to the experience.
An ideal candidate for this position should possess demonstrated ability for coding, component design, and large-scale software architecture, with product development experiences in Windows and/or similar scale operating system. We also look for the ability to work efficiently in the technology areas of data analysis, machine learning, AI and new hardware.
High bandwidth communication skills are critical, both at written and spoken English. Language skills in Chinese, Japanese and other Asian or non-Latin languages are highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of software development experience with a breadth of managed/unmanaged programing languages including C/C++ is a requirement, and experiences with system level components are desired.
